About this artwork

took a picture of an agave cactus while my students were visiting the Phoenix Botanical Gardens and decided it would make for a nice watercolor. The purples, greens, and browns complement each other well, and the prickly spears of the cactus make for a nice repeating pattern. The eye is forced to keep moving through the composition. The most difficult part was keeping the white branches on top white. All in all, not a bad desert landscape painting if I do say so myself.
