About this artwork

Title: Hopi Bean Dance Clown Dancers © 1988 Design: 4 Höh-ahs and Kököpöll-Mana in the center. Story: The Hopi Bean Dance ocurrs in the month of February each year in the villages on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona.. These Höh-ahs drum, sing and dance while other Kachinas go thru the plazas in the village. At one point, the Höh-ahs would meet up with Kököpöl-Mana and they would have her join their group. Kököpöll-Mana is a Show-Girl type of a Kachina, showing her legs or would be lifting up her skirt to men and at times to women to get the women laughingly mad. The Höh-ahs would have the Kököpöll-Mana dance while in the center of 2 Höh-ahs or behind 1 Höh-ah. The Bean Dance Clown Dancers would then dance through the village entertaining the villagers as many other kachinas come through the plazas. Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Board Measures 30.5 x 40.5 cm Not Framed Price: 295.00 € ($385.00)
